Description / Information:
Profusely illustrated 2 volume set on all aspects of locomotion on land in excellent condition. These two volumes show transport up until the 1930's and are a MUST for one of the eight books to take to a Desert Island. Beautifully produced and illustrated. Amongst the finest ever produced on this subject. A transport epic. The volume on railways (376p) has wonderfully detailed endpapers and beautiful tipped in colour plates as well as normal coloured plates. The rarer volume (447p) on natural, wheeled and mechanical transport includes cycling and traces the subject of transport on land from the earliest beginnings right up to motor racing in the 1930's. This has tipped in coloured plates and coloured plates. Baudry de Saunier was co-author of this volume with Geoffroy and Dollfus. The bindings are pink cloth with silver lettering and the boards are a mottled brown. The bindings are tight. Text in French.
