Description / Information:
Volume I. A first edition in good to very good condition overall. Lovely plates. Frontis, vignette on title page + 12 full page plates as called for. Plain green end papers with sound binding. Gold leopard on front board. Private bookplate of Henry Ashworth James. The attached photos show a typical plate and demonstrate the general condition internally. The photo of the title page shows the extent of foxing to the tile and the frontis. Internally some light foxing throughout - more on title page. Some very good black and white illustrations. Some light markings to boards but gold decoration generally good. Some fading to spine - small tear in middle of spine.
