Description / Information:
This is a Maples catalogue of 1006 pages printed on art paper of around the turn of the 20th century. It includes a wide range of items, including garden machinery. It has a number of coloured plates covering things such as dinner services (8 colour plates). An interesting section on electric light installations including power generation plants and numerous early light fittings. There is a coloured section on outside or sun blinds (5 colour plates.) At the time, Maples claimed to be the world's largest furnishing establishment. Inside the back cover is an engraving of the shop in Tottenham Court Road. The title page is partially missing. The preface and general information pages and the first three furniture pages are creased. The two index pages at the rear are torn and are damaged but without loss to text. The original boards are faded. The binding whilst loose is still intact. The bulk of the contents are in excellent order with crisp corners to the pages. A fascinating record of virtually everything available in the furniture market and peripheral items at that time - a wealth of information. Buying more than one book will save on postage costs. To help our customers, we have split our books into 70 + categories.
