The History of the Bastile and of its principal captives to which is added a short history of the state prisoner commonly called "The iron Mask". Frontis piece is paln of the Bastile. 12 chapters. 545 pages. 4 coloured plates. vignette on title page. In v\g condition overall. Full contemporary Green leather with gold lining and the crest of Diocesan School Friar Gate Derby on front board and presentation dated 1877 neatly written on the verso of the front free end paper. Marbled end papers and to all page edges.. Binding tight but signs of wear to hinges and top and bottom of spine. - Slightly worn at corners. Gold on spine slightly faded and dull with five raised bands and a red nameplate in good condition. Some light foxing but this is generally not on the colour plates.
