The Handbook of the British Flora a description of the flowering plants and ferns indigenous to or naturalised in the British Isles for the use of beginners and amateurs by George Bentham President of the Linnean Society London Lovell Reeve & Co. Bindings sound and tight. Lovely marbled end papers. Marbled page edges. See photograph for condition of green 3/4 leather bindings. These bindings look as if they are of the period of the book as the colour of the verso of the marbled end papers matches the text pages. Bright gold decoration and wording. Some occasional but mainly light foxing. Vol 1 starts with the preface and is 504 pages. Vol2 starts with the title page which is followed by XLI Campanula Family page 505 to page 1076. A 12 page Index is bound in at back of volume 2.
