Description / Information:
Plates 5 and 7 drawn by Mrs Withers and engraved by J W Lowry brilliantly hand coloured. The other 10 plates called for are two shades of sepia printing (Withetrs/Lowry and Dick). Also numerous line engraved drawings in text. Tight green half leather binding with green cloth. Spine clean with some gold loss to raised banding. Gardener's Assistant ( bright gold on maroon leather lettering piece). Original end papers. Inside very clean . Only visible foxing on original tissue guard sheets. This is a brilliant first edition of a standard work with a number subsequent editions
